Lawmakers from New York and New Jersey are calling on the federal government to be transparent about what they know amid a mysterious spate of drone sightings in the Mid-Atlantic.

Drone sightings have been reported for weeks in the skies over northern New Jersey and the New York City metropolitan area, including Staten Island and the Hudson Valley, as well as Delaware and Pennsylvania.

Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand ask for answers about drones

On Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Senators Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Cory Booker (D-NJ), and Andy Kim (D-NJ) sent a letter to the Department of Homeland Security , FBI and the Federal Aviation Administration is requesting a briefing on how the agencies are working with federal and local law enforcement to identify and address the source of drone activity.
