The NFL Christmas promotion continues into the evening when the Houston Texans (9:6) take on the Baltimore Ravens (10:5) at NRG Stadium in Houston. When this AFC matchup begins, the presents should be unwrapped and this tasty matchup full of star power should help you curb your desire to eat the entire plate of cookies for dessert.

The Texans won the AFC South title for the second year in a row. The offense led by CJ Stroud, Nico Collins and Joe Mixon will look to build on their playoff momentum in just two weeks. Conversely, the Ravens are fighting in the AFC playoffs and aiming for another deep run in January.

This will be a rematch of the 2023 Divisional Round game in which the Ravens earned a 34-10 victory at home.

Reigning MVP Lamar Jackson is always must-see TV. His teammate Derrick Henry in the backfield has combined one of the most dynamic offensive weapon pairings the NFL has ever seen. These teams could be on a collision course and meet in the playoffs for the second straight year next month. Houston will have to quickly adjust to life without another top receiver. They are facing a short turnaround and lost Tank Dell to a devastating knee injury on Saturday.

Ravens set the tone early

It didn’t take long for the Baltimore Ravens to put their stamp on this game. Their opening drive lasted less than five minutes as Derrick Henry capped it with a 2-yard touchdown run, set up by a 27-yard reception from Zay Flowers.

Houston couldn’t stop anything Baltimore tried, which could be a very bad sign for the Texans moving forward.

There is no set start time for Beyoncé’s halftime performance, as it will of course depend on the length of the first half of the Texans vs. Ravens game.

The Texans game is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. ET. If it starts on time as expected, halftime should be able to begin between 5:45 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. ET.

When was the first NFL Christmas game?

For years, the NFL season simply didn’t last long enough to reach the holiday. Until the AFL-NFL merger in 1970, the regular season ended in mid-December with the championship game two weeks later. The league would move the game to Dec. 26 if there was a conflict with the holiday.

The first NFL Christmas game took place in the 1971-72 playoffs, when the Minnesota Vikings hosted the Dallas Cowboys and the Kansas City Chiefs hosted the Miami Dolphins. Both away teams won on the day, with the Cowboys earning a 20-12 victory en route to a Super Bowl victory and Miami earning a 27-24 win in the second overtime.

Beyoncé has fun with the Netflix halftime show “Dig Before Christmas.”

Beyonce, who will be performing during the halftime show of the Ravens-Texans game, took to social media to promote her upcoming performance with a clip in which she humorously poked fun at the streaming giant recently during the fight between Logan Paul and Mike Tyson had technical problems.
