Sean McDermott sees Amari Cooper’s Week 14 performance as a “good sign.”

The connection between Josh Allen and Amari Cooper appears to have reached a new level of potency.

In Cooper’s fifth appearance since joining the Buffalo Bills, the veteran wide receiver made six catches for 95 yards and was targeted more often than any other Bills pass catcher this season. Allen threw to Cooper 14 times in the 44-42 setback against the Los Angeles Rams, although not every ball was caught.

“I think that’s a good sign. There was a chemistry there. Is it complete? Probably not. That’s probably what they would tell you. They are still working on some things as you saw in the game yesterday. That’s what I think.” “We’re going to continue to grow,” head coach Sean McDermott said as he addressed reporters virtually on Monday.

30-year-old Cooper; He has seven 1,000-yard receiving seasons and has the ability to make the difficult catch routine. He brings a true WR1 pedigree to the Bills’ receiving corps and helps open up more options for Allen.

“The great thing is, Josh, we’ve all seen it, he goes to the receiver he’s supposed to go to. He’s going through his progressions,” McDermott said.

Cooper, who can create separation better than most, has been there for Allen in crucial spots and seemingly made it easier to stretch the field in the passing game. He has 26-plus yard receptions in three of five games. 75 percent of Cooper’s catches as Bill resulted in first downs.

After missing two games with a wrist injury, Cooper has thrown multiple balls in all three games since returning to the lineup.

Meanwhile, Allen continues to show his growth as a passer.

“Josh has done a phenomenal job all year, throwing the ball where the reading tells him to go,” McDermott said.

Allen has connected on touchdown passes with 11 different receivers this season.
