Sean McVay had the best description of Josh Allen after the historic game

Stopping Josh Allen is one of the most difficult tasks in the NFL right now. Now that he has fewer turnovers and plays more within structure than earlier in his career, he is an absolute nightmare to defend.

All you can really hope for is to keep him in check, because no matter what you do, he’s going to get his offense down one way or another.

Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams learned that on Sunday afternoon when Allen threw for 342 yards and three touchdowns, then passed for 82 yards and three more touchdowns, giving him a total of more than 400 yards and six touchdowns in the game.

Allen is the first player in NFL history with three passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns in a regular season game. Still, it wasn’t enough, as the Rams defeated the Buffalo Bills 44:42.

After the game, Sean McVay had the perfect description of Allen.

“Josh Allen is an alien,” he said.

“We knew he was capable of some of what he could do and create. He showed that. That’s why he’s as respected and respected as he is in this league. It’s all deserved and deserved, but our guys found a way to make just enough plays to come out victorious.”

The Rams did a great job of containing him as a runner in the first half, limiting him to just one yard on two QB sneak attempts. But in the second half, Allen started running more and it proved successful.

McVay described how challenging it is to defend him because you have to be disciplined when it comes to rush lanes but also aggressively try to apply pressure. The Rams won, but had no answer for the MVP frontrunner.

“It’s such a fine line. I thought he did a great job with the move,” McVay said. “We had some good moves up front where you try to have some marking moves and things like that, but if you leave a gap open he’ll go forward. He can stretch out, look down the field, or run away from you. He can break tackles. I mean, it’s a nightmare to defend and that’s why it’s a balance. I don’t think you can just sit back and let him take control of the bag. He can beat you from the pocket, he can beat you with his mind, he can beat you with his arm, he can beat you with his legs. That’s why he’s a legitimate MVP candidate. That’s why he’s one of the best players in this league.”

It doesn’t matter how many yards the Rams gave up because they got the win, that’s what matters. Sure, they’d rather not allow 445 total yards and allow their opponents six touchdowns, but they were just as good on offense with 457 yards, 28 first downs and 44 points – seven of which came on special teams.
