Sean McVay: Really cool how we found different ways to win games

The Rams have won three straight games to improve their record to 8-6 this season, but the way they’ve done it hasn’t been particularly consistent.

After being shut out for more than a half against the Saints, the Rams rallied for a 21-14 road win on a fourth-quarter touchdown catch by Puka Nacua. All memories of last Sunday’s offensive struggles at home disappeared as they outscored the Bills with a 44-42 shutout, making it hard to believe that the same defense was on the field Thursday night against the 49ers at Levi’s Stadium.

The defense, unable to stop the Bills, allowed the 49ers two field goals in a 12-6 victory that potentially ended the Niners’ playoff hopes for good. The total package is quite a rollercoaster, and head coach Sean McVay said after Thursday’s win that he would like to “see if we can put together a complete game,” but also said he was happy to have a team , which can be adapted to all situations.

“I think what’s really cool is that this team has found a bunch of different ways to win football games,” McVay said. “The other day we trailed a game 44-42 and then won 12-6. Our group did what they had to do to be able to get it done and the defense just felt like they were coming up with stop after stop.”

McVay called this defense resilient and he described his entire team as a group that is “getting better” after a 1-4 start to the season. It’s the right time of year to play top football, and everything could be going well for the Rams.
