Second round of storms possible tomorrow afternoon

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – After an active day of heavy rain, thunderstorms and violent activity, we are preparing for another round tomorrow that could bring even more severe potential into the evening hours tomorrow.

WEATHER WARNING DAY: SATURDAY

Immediately following the storm disaster on Friday, we are threatened with further storms and possibly severe storms on Saturday. Cloudy skies in the morning turn into showers and storms by late morning. Highs will climb into the upper 60s and lower 70s for our highs tomorrow, with rain and storms throughout the day. The threats come after dark and the rain is expected to continue into the night. The storms with the greatest potential arrive well after dark, around 8 p.m., and move through the Meridian metropolitan area around 9 p.m., but depart shortly after 10/11 p.m. All threats are on the table, with the main danger being strong winds in excess of 65 miles per hour and heavy rain, but the possibility of a tornado or devastating hail is not ruled out either.

Fortunately, the weather is improving quickly after Saturday’s storm. On Sunday the clouds will clear, the highs will be around 60 degrees and the sky will clear. Sunny skies on Monday will bring highs in the upper 60s.

Overnight conditions Monday and into Tuesday will bring another cold front and a slight chance of rain clearing by Tuesday morning. Highs will only reach the lower 60s on Tuesday, with partly cloudy skies and clearing by the afternoon.

Looking ahead: New Year

We’re ringing in the new year with high temperatures in the 50s and mostly sunny skies! 2025 is off to a cooler start as northerly winds bring cold, dry air from the north. Thursday and Friday will remain cool and sunny, with highs in the mid to upper 50s.
