The countdown to Christmas is officially in the single digits! Whether you’re watching The Grinch, the Sabrina Carpenter Christmas special, or even Die Hard, you might also find yourself playing some classic Christmas songs.

Christmas music seems to be hit or miss with most people, and opinions on certain songs can vary greatly. Financial information hub FinanceBuzz has compiled a list of the most searched Christmas songs in each state over the past five years. The company used Google Trends to collect data on the top 25 songs on the Billboard Hot 100.

FinanceBuzz also surveyed 1,250 adults in the U.S. to find out which Christmas songs were the most annoying. The results may surprise you.

What is the most popular Christmas song in Texas?

Perhaps it’s no surprise that it’s the most popular song in the Lone Star State for another year in a row “Feliz Navidad” by Jose Feliciano. Texas borders Mexico and has a relatively large Latino population. Feliciana, a Puerto Rican singer-songwriter, released the original English-Spanish track in 1970.

Florida was the only other state to name “Feliz Navidad” as its most popular Christmas song – which makes sense considering it ranks close behind Texas in Latino population. However, “Feliz Navidad” was not the most searched song in California, which has the largest Latino population of any state. Instead, the Golden State shows an appreciation for “Jingle Bells,” which is most popular in a whopping 14 states.

The return of the modern classic to stores and radio is an inevitable part of the holiday season. For the past five years, the 1994 song has reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts during Christmas week. While it was the most popular song in only two states last season, it was ranked among the top five most popular songs in most states (27). It was among the top three most popular songs in 20 states.

The popularity of Carey’s Christmas song may be why some find it annoying. As with most songs that are perceived as over-the-top, people are bound to tire of “All I Want for Christmas is You.”
