Selena Gomez’s marquise diamond engagement ring has a hidden meaning

Benny Blanco gifted Selena Gomez a statement marquise diamond engagement ring — one with deep, personal meaning. Gomez showed off the sparkler in her Instagram post announcing the couple’s big news. The ring features a large marquise diamond in the center surrounded by smaller diamonds on the ring.

Blanco’s decision to make a marquise diamond the centerpiece is a sweet nod to Gomez’s 2015 song “Good for You.”

In the second verse, Gomez sings, “I’m on my Marquise Diamonds / I’m a Marquise Diamonds / Could even make that Tiffany jealous / You say I give it to you hard / So bad, so bad / Make you never wanna go / I won’t, I won’t.

Gomez has been very vocal about how good her year and a half relationship with Blanco has been for her. In September she said Vanity Fair from Blanco: “I have never been loved so much. He was simply a light. A perfect light in my life. He is my best friend. I love telling him everything.”

She also shared that there is no rush for her to get engaged. “We are always careful to protect what we have, but there are no rules,” she said. “I want him to always be himself. I always want to be myself.” When she gets married, she adds: “I definitely won’t change my name. I’m Selena Gomez. This is it.”

In May, Blanco spoke to Howard Stern about his desire to marry Gomez. “When I look at them, I always think, ‘I don’t know a world that could be better,'” he said. When asked if he had a ring, Blanco replied: “I don’t have anything. I don’t have any shoes on. I have to pull myself together.”
