The acclaimed Apple TV+ series employed an unusual marketing tactic ahead of its second season – which premieres on Friday, January 17. The series cast Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Tramell Tillman and Patricia Arquette all gathered as their respective characters Mark Scout, Helly Riggs, Dylan George, Seth Milchick and Harmony Cobel at Grand Central Station on Tuesday, January 14th.

Several social media users posted videos of the episode, documenting the cast portraying their characters in their makeshift office space in the center of the station.

AppleTV+ also shared a series of photos from the event on the streaming platform’s official Instagram and TikTok accounts.

In addition to the cast of the New York network, series director and executive producer Ben Stiller also supported the event. There, the Emmy winner, 59, took photos and videos of the cast in the closed offices in front of the audience.

Several fans commented on the setup; One wrote: “THIS is amazing marketing.” Another added: “Kinda crazy that they hired real actors for this.” One user commented: “Top notch marketing. Someone gets promoted. No. Not the Severance characters.”

The workplace thriller follows a group of employees who have undergone “severance,” a procedure that separates their work personalities (or “innies”) from who they are in the real world (called “outies”).

Scott plays Mark, a Lumon worker who agrees to a severance package to deal with the death of his wife. But after the mysterious disappearance of his best friend and former Lumon employee Petey, he teams up with new employee Helly (Lower) and other colleagues Dylan and Irving (John Turturro) to uncover the company’s network of conspiracy.

The series also stars Dichen Lachman, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus and Christopher Walken.

The series was renewed for a second season just days before the first season finale. Since then, several stars have been announced as new cast members, including Gwendoline Christie, Alia Shawkat, Bob Balaban, Merritt Wever, Robby Benson, Stefano Carannante, John Noble and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson.

Scott, 51, previously acknowledged Stiller’s role in the casting process, telling PEOPLE in April 2024, “One of Ben Stiller’s superpowers, in my opinion, is casting and finding the right people for roles. He’s really, really good at it.” Adding, “Our core cast is already incredible, but we have some just great people coming in for season two and I can’t wait to see them all.”
