The warning is valid until Saturday at 2 p.m. This warning includes Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley, Live Oak, Felton, Ben Lomond, Soquel and Capitola. Wind speeds of up to 60 miles per hour are expected. “A severe thunderstorm occurred near Ben Lomond, 9 miles northwest of Santa Cruz, moving east at 30 miles per hour,” the NWS said. Nickel-sized hail is also expected. People have to expect damage to roofs, facade cladding and trees. The NWS recommends moving to an indoor space on the lowest floor of a building.
