Shailene Woodley says discussing Aaron Rodgers split ‘always makes me cry’

Shailene Woodley is getting candid with rare comments about her ex-fiancé Aaron Rodgers.

The Divergent Actress tells Outside Magazine in an interview published on Tuesday, December 3: “I haven’t shared much about my relationship with Aaron because it always makes me cry.”

Woodley, 33, added: “It wasn’t right. But it was beautiful.”

In February 2022, PEOPLE confirmed that Woodley and the 41-year-old NFL quarterback had called off their engagement just over a year after making their relationship public. The on-off couple separated again in April of this year.

Elsewhere in the Outside In the interview, Woodley, although she didn’t mention Rodgers by name this time, said that “something really terrible, traumatic happened to her in early 2022” that resulted in about six months of depression.

“I felt like I had lost my soul, my self, my happiness, my joy. “I really understood depression and anxiety and, like, complete soul detachment,” he said Big little lies star, adding that she remained in a “toxic situation” at the time because “empathy kind of kept me in this loop of feeling everything for everyone.”

Her best friend, stylist Kris Zero, helped her through “the lowest point of my life,” she remembers.

Woodley, who makes her Broadway debut in the new play cult of lovewas named the magazine’s Outsider of the Year, recognizing her commitment to the environment, including serving on the board of the nonprofit Conservation International and working on the PBS documentary series Hope in the water.

In an Instagram tribute in February 2022, shortly after news of their split, Rodgers thanked Woodley for “letting me meet you and be a part of your life.”

He added at the time: “Thank you for always having my back, for the incredible kindness you show me and everyone you meet, and for showing me what unconditional love looks like. I love you and am grateful for you.”

In a previous interview, Woodley explained how she went through the difficult phase of her life while filming her latest drama series Three womennow streaming on Starz.

“It was difficult to film because I was going through the darkest and hardest time of my life. “It was winter in New York and my home life was terrible, so it felt like a big bubble of pain for eight months,” she said Net-a-Porteris the digital title PORTER in January 2023. “I was so grateful that I could at least go to work and cry and process my emotions through my character.”
