Shooter at Abundant Life Christian School, identified as Natalie “Samantha” Rupnow

Authorities on Monday identified the young girl who shot a student and a teacher and left two other students clinging to life at a private Christian school in Madison, Wisconsin.

Police said Natalie “Samantha” Rupnow, A 15-year-old K-12 Abundant Life Christian School student brought a handgun onto campus around 11 a.m. and opened fire, Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes said Monday night. The gunman was later found dead at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, sources told CNN.

A teenage student and a teacher were killed and six other people were injured, including two teenagers critically, officials said.

The school in the state capital has around 400 students.

Bethany Highman, whose daughter attends the school, described her fear before FaceTime with her child and learning she was safe.

“Once it happens, your world stops for a minute. “Nothing else matters,” Highman said. “There is no one near you.

“You just run to the door and try to do whatever you can as a parent to be with your kids.”

The school wrote on its Facebook page: “Prayers requested! There was an active shooter incident at ALCS today.

“We are in the middle of tracking. We will share information as widely as possible.”
