THERE ON THE ICE. NOW Speaking of ice, we have a chance of some freezing drizzle tomorrow morning, and otherwise it’s just looking like a choppy day on Saturday. BUT MOST of the showers will stay just a little bit further south of the Mass Hecht and then more showers will arrive through Sunday. AND AS WE LOOK TO MONDAY, you guessed it: MORE RAIN. AND THEN WE ADD WIND TO THE MIX. So this high has kept us nice and dry over the last few days. This is starting to break down. High clouds continue to gather. Now I look just a little bit further to the southwest. This happens to be our next rainmaker. This will arrive and give us a chance of freezing drizzle tomorrow morning. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY APPLICABLE TO ALL PURPLE LAYERED AREAS HERE. I think the time frame we’re looking at is somewhere between 4am and 10am. Once we get to midday and beyond, the threat of freezing drizzle no longer haunts us. BUT PRIOR TO THAT, THERE ARE SOME ICY ROADS, PARTICULARLY IN THE CENTRAL AND WESTERN MASSAGE AREAS. So let’s talk about how much ice we see. As a general rule, less than a tenth of an inch of ice will still cause problems on the roads. So proceed carefully and slowly, or just wait a few hours and then get going. AT NOON IN WORCESTER YOU’RE SITTING AT 36 DEGREES AND A LIGHT WIND FROM THE WEST-SOUTHWEST. AT SEVEN MILES PER HOUR YOU WILL BE DEALING WITH A SLIGHT WIND COOLING FACTOR, IT WILL FEEL CLOSER TO 30 DEGREES, BUT NOTHING WE CAN’T HANDLE. Temperatures will continue to rise throughout the day today, but not much more than where we are currently. You’ll mostly be looking for the upper 30s and lower 40s, which is appropriate for this time of year. CLOUDS CONTINUE TO FORM OVERNIGHT. WAKE UP TOMORROW MORNING. IF YOU DON’T wake up to freezing drizzle, you will only wake up to mostly cloudy skies. A PICTURE-PERFECT DAY THAT EXCLUDES OUR FRIDAY. THE HIGH CLOUDS CONTINUE TO STRENGTHEN SO WE CALL IT FILTERED SUNSHINE, BUT STILL LOTS OF SUNSHINE FOR TODAY. NOW OVERNIGHT YOU CAN SEE THESE AREAS HERE IN PINK. This is light freezing rain or freezing drizzle. IT WILL FAVOR CENTRAL WESTERN MASS THE ENTIRE TIME UNTIL 10:00 AM AND THEN WE’RE JUST LOOKING FOR SHOWERS THROUGHOUT THE AREA. Showers will be favored along and south of the mass pike. Make sure you have an umbrella just in case. We’ll worry about rain showers throughout the day. TEMPERATURES FOR YOUR SATURDAY. YOU’RE LOOKING AT THE UPPER 30S. LOWER 40S. SIMILAR TO WHAT WE EXPERIENCE TODAY. Low temperatures tonight will be in the mid to upper 20s. LOWER 30S. So when it rains, the surface will of course be so cold that the rain will freeze on contact. That’s what we’re talking about. Freezing rain and slightly freezing drizzle. YOU CAN SEE THIS HIGH STARTING TO BUILD UP AND COLLOW OFF THE COAST. NOW WE HAVE A WARM FRONT RAISING THE NORTH BUT IT WILL NOT BE CROSSED ON SATURDAY. So Saturday is a bit of a seasonal day. BUT SUNDAY. HERE COMES THE HEAT. There will be a few showers on Sunday, but the heaviest rain will continue into the later evening hours on Monday. THEREFORE, BOTH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY WILL BE UNQUIET. FROM SATURDAY. A FEW ICE RICKS ON SATURDAY. SATURDAY AFTERNOON A FEW GOOD OR BAD SHOWERS. WE’RE FOR MORE SHOWERS IN THE FORECAST ON SUNDAY. MORE CONSTANT RAIN COMING LATE. TEMPERATURES ABOVE 40S AND BELOW 50S. IF YOU NEED TO GO TO THE PATRIOTS GAME THIS WEEKEND, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE UMBRELLA WITH YOU. AND OF COURSE A HEAVIER COAT. It will be a bit chilly. How much rain are we talking about between Saturday and Monday? GENERALLY BETWEEN HALF AN INCH OF RAIN TO UP TO ABOUT AN INCH OF RAIN. SO THE SUNSHINE IS HERE TODAY, GONE TOMORROW AND GONE FOR THE NEXT DAYS. WE TRACK ALL DAY ON SATURDAY. There will be more consistent rain on Sunday night. Winds will increase Sunday evening into Monday. MONDAY WILL BE A RAI
