Liverpool face the mighty Real Madrid in the Champions League at Anfield on Wednesday evening.

The Reds will go top of the table if they win against Carlo Ancelotti’s side tonight.

Liverpool have won all four games so far and it would be a massive statement if they could beat Madrid, who are missing a number of key players in this game.

The Reds are on the road to success at the moment and have achieved 16 wins and one draw in 18 games across all competitions.

Arne Slot’s side go into this game after a 3-2 win over Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday.

Mohamed Salah scored two goals against Saints, But his comments after the game shocked even his own teammates.

Here is Liverpool’s predicted eleven.

goalkeeper

Slot confirmed that Alisson is still not ready to start a game, meaning Caoimhin Kelleher will continue in goal.

defense

Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate were below par against Southampton. However, it’s a massive game and they can’t afford to make individual mistakes.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is back in the squad after a hamstring injury, but Slot has suggested the right-back could spend a few minutes on the bench if necessary. Conor Bradley will keep his place in the team.

Andy Robertson is expected to continue at left-back Kostas Tsimikas is out due to a minor injury.

midfield

Ryan Gravenberch is unbeatable at the moment and will look to impress again.

Alexis MacAllister came off the bench against Southampton and the Argentine should be ready to start against Madrid on Wednesday.

The slot is expected to rotate between Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones this season.

Szoboszlai scored against Southampton and should have full confidence, but Jones should get the nod as Liverpool need to control the ball against big teams.

Forward

Luis Diaz looked lively against the Saints after coming off the bench. He could start in place of Cody Gakpo. The 25-year-old attacker looked pretty underperforming against the Saints and could be dropped for this game.

Diogo Jota is still not fully fit, which means Darwin Nunez will be back in the starting lineup. Salah should keep his place despite his bizarre outburst.

Liverpool’s expected starting XI against Real Madrid: Kelleher; Van Dijk, Konate, Bradley, Robertson; Gravenberch, MacAllister, Jones; Diaz, Nunez, Salah.
