Although Penn State is still recovering from its Big Ten Championship game loss to the Oregon Ducks, they head into the College Football Playoff with home field advantage when they take on the SMU Mustangs this Saturday. The Nittany Lions last played the Mustangs in 1978, who were also recovering from their Atlantic Coast Conference championship loss to Clemson. The game is one of four first-round matchups to be played this weekend in the 12-team College Football Playoff.
