Snow and ice create treacherous conditions

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Rain, snow and ice are on the radar this morning, causing treacherous road conditions across the region.

Dangerous journey through the afternoon

The ice storm warning has been expanded to include most of eastern Iowa and extends as far north as Fayette and Clayton counties. Rain, snow and ice are now expected to continue throughout the afternoon and into the evening. Therefore, you should expect dangerous road conditions throughout Saturday. If you have to drive today, be very careful and do not drive off without a full tank of gas and emergency equipment. Rainfall will gradually ease tonight and end early, with mostly cloudy skies. Highs on Saturday will reach the mid to upper 30s, while lows will cool to the lower to mid 30s tonight.

Sunday will be much calmer with fog in the morning and mostly cloudy skies in the afternoon. Highs on Sunday will reach the low 40s. We could see some light rain showers Sunday night and Monday morning.
