Sony is quietly announcing new PS5 hardware, and I need it

New and shiny

Sony has announced a new DualSense controller with a beautiful design based on the hit game Helldivers II.

The controller will sell for $84.99 or £74.99 and will include all of the standard features of the DualSense. This appears to be a simple cosmetic change for the PlayStation 5 controller.

PlayStation is currently celebrating its 30th anniversary as a console and game manufacturer.

I say just a cosmetic change, but in reality it’s a visually appealing makeover to the standard white color.

With a black background color, the accents appear in yellow and gray.

Designed with direct peel decals Helldivers IIthe appearance is reminiscent of technology found in the game.

The small details around the face buttons and d-pad enhance the aesthetic and make it look like the controls of a mech or fighter plane.

Then there’s the little skull in the middle of the touchpad, trimmed with more yellow and gray.

This announcement comes hot on the heels of the game’s first major expansion, Omen of Tyranny, which introduces a new faction and some cityscapes to fight in.

Omen of Tyranny’s new enemy, The Voteless, are zombies who want nothing more than to rip your limbs off.

It’s great to see the game receiving updates and new expansions as fans cool off Helldivers II after it stormed out of the gate and was enthusiastically received.

Now you can come and equip yourself with a proper DualSense and fly the flag for Super Earth.

Pre-orders for the controller are available now and launch is scheduled for February 6, 2025. However, according to Sony, the exact launch date will vary from country to country.

I haven’t even played much of it yet Helldivers II and I want this for my PS5, it has such a slick design and taps into the archaic sci-fi future.
