Sorry, Starboy! Dana White knocks out Manel Kape, who fights for the flyweight title next

“Starboy” won’t be fighting for a title next.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) flyweight contender Manel Kape scored a big win at UFC Tampa last night (Sat., Dec. 14, 2024) when he freaked out Bruno Silva‘s winning streak by stopping him in the third round via technical knockout (TKO) at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida (see highlights).

After his huge win, in which he was kicked three times in the balls, Kape tried to steal the show during his post-fight interview in the cage, knocking out several people he had feuded with while also demanding a title shot .

“Shit Kai Kara-Francesaid Kape. “Shit (Brandon) Moreno. shit (Israel) Adesanya. I’m next against Pantoja. I am the one who can destroy Pantoja. Dana engaged me in a fight against Pantoja. I’m the new PPV flyweight star. Nobody can be like me. I’m doing great. I am the best.”

“Starboy” also shouted out UFC CEO Dana White after his win, to which the UFC boss said: “We’ll talk in five minutes.”

Unfortunately for Kape, he won’t be getting a title shot Alexandre Pantojasaid White.

“He said (after the fight), ‘You know why, this, that, etc.’ And I said, ‘Well, let’s finish this first.’ You’ve got five more minutes.’ So he went out and did it. No, he has no shot at the title, but we will definitely give him what he is looking for,” White told the media during the post-fight press conference (watch here).

So if Kape doesn’t get the flyweight title next, what exactly does White conclude when he says, “We’ll definitely give him what he’s looking for.”

Is this a fight for number 1? Is it another main venue? Is this a grudge match with Kara-France? Is it a Performance of the Night bonus (he didn’t get it)? A Kai Asakura trilogy? A motion to fire Mike Beltran?

The world of mixed martial arts (MMA) may never know.

…until someone asks him next week.
