Spotify Wrapped 2024 is here: What’s new and who’s being streamed the most?

Spotify Wrapped is here, a day that brings much joy and satisfaction to music lovers around the world.

The streaming statistics tell listeners which songs and artists they listened to the most in 2024 – much to their delight or embarrassment. The Wrapped presentation includes more fun musical tidbits about their year’s audio story.

This year’s roundup included some new features. Here’s everything you need to know about Spotify Wrapped 2024:

Spotify music development

This year Spotify added a new data story called Music developmentthat addresses the musical phases that shaped the year.

“Users get up to three different music stages based on hundreds of thousands of unique descriptions, genres and artists,” Spotify said.

The phases show how your tastes and mood have evolved over the year. Each stage features artists that match your listening habits and gives them a fun nickname to capture the essence of that stage.

You can also find your musical evolution in a personalized playlist, separate from the top songs of the 2024 playlist. It also includes new Spotify-recommended songs to match the mood.

Spotify AI Podcast

Spotify also integrates AI to give music fans more information about their streams.

Spotify is offering a personalized AI podcast about your listening in 2024.

“With this personalized audio overview, delivered by two dynamic presenters using generative AI, fans can dive deeper into their top songs, artists and genres of the year,” Spotify said.

The podcast is available in English for eligible Free and Premium accounts. However, Spotify said it will only be available for a limited time.

Spotify top songs and artists

Spotify shares some of its own stats in its wraps, and that’s perhaps no surprise Taylor Swift topped many charts.

She was the most streamed artist in the US – and worldwide. Their new album, The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology, was also the top album in the US this year. (1989 (Taylor’s version) also reached number 10 in the US)

However, another pop star won the top song in the USA this year: Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso.

Spotify says Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga’s “Die With A Smile” took the top spot as Spotify’s most shared song on social platforms.

Spotify added audiobooks to its Rolodex this year, with 15 listening hours per month available to premium users.

This is the first time Spotify has been able to name the top audio books, with the list topped by Sarah J. Maas and her series “A Court of Thorns and Roses.”

When it comes to podcasts, The Joe Rogan Experience was the top podcast in the US
