Squirrel White Injury Update: Tennessee WR heads to the locker room vs. Ohio State
Tennessee struggled to get anything going on offense Ohio Statehad just three points late in the second quarter. Losing one of the team’s best weapons certainly doesn’t help the Volunteers. Unfortunately, it looks like a wide receiver Squirrel knows will be out of the game for some time.
White intercepted a pass Nico Iamaleava but I was slow to get back up. Tennessee trainers made their way onto the field, but White was back on his feet by that point and walked away under his own power. Due to an injury to his right leg, several trips to the medical tent had to be made.

Just before halftime, White was seen heading back to the Tennessee locker room. The ABC broadcast later showed him in the tunnel and with a very noticeable limp.
“Tennessee WR Squirrel White is headed to the locker room after being injured earlier in this quarter,” ESPN’s Chris Low said via X. “White has been hampered by injuries this season.”
White only had one ball thrown for 17 yards on the night. The injury occurred after he was caught.
Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava cracks his helmet early against Ohio State
Josh Heupel knew the physicality would come Saturday against Ohio State. Tennessee’s head coach probably didn’t bet on his quarterback, Nico Iamaleavahad a cracked helmet after a ride. But when Iamaleavea left the sideline early in the first quarter with a large crack on a white portion of his helmet.
At linebacker, Ohio State tried to bring Iamaleava down on third down Cody Simon reinforced. In a major collision between the two, there was helmet-to-helmet contact, but not to the extent that a targeted attack occurred.
Before Tennessee took the field for the second time, an entirely new helmet was required. A scramble for the team’s equipment staff, even if Ohio State’s offense gave them some time to bring in replacements.
“It was a huge success,” said ESPN’s Marty Smith. “In fact, it left a 15cm crack on Nico Iamaleava’s helmet. He now has a new helmet. Tennessee’s equipment team worked hard last time to prepare for the new helmet. They just told me that the equipment personnel were very similar to what happened Patrick Mahomes‘ Helm in Kansas City a few weeks ago.
