Stanley is recalling approximately 2.6 million of its cups due to a problem with the lid.

The lid threads on Switchback and Trigger Action travel mugs could shrink if exposed to too much heat, causing the lid to come loose, “posing a burn hazard,” the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.

According to the Safety Commission, Stanley has received 91 reports of lids coming loose worldwide. 38 people suffered burns, 11 of whom required medical treatment.

The 12- and 16-ounce variants of the Switchback cups have been recalled, while the 12-, 16- and 20-ounce variants of the Trigger Action cups have been recalled. They ranged in price from $20 to $50 and were sold at major retailers such as Amazon, Walmart and Target from June 2016 until this month.

In a statement, Stanley said it was “committed to continually improving” its products and urged owners of the affected cups to stop using them and contact the company for a free replacement lid.

The brand has already caused a sensation with its products in stores and online viral “quencher” cups.
