The Avalanche responded shortly after with their first power play. Rantanen hit the post with a shot, the puck landed in front of the net and Nichushkin tipped it in from Oettinger at 13:56 of the first.

Hintz, returning after missing a game, received a pass from Wyatt Johnston in the slot and buried Georgiev’s pass for his ninth goal, an 18:42 power play tally and a 4-1 Dallas lead.

Colorado got back into the game in the third period. Lehkonen made it 4-2 after just 1:02 minutes when his shot deflected off Stars defender Ilya Lyubushkin and past Oettinger for the fourth time this season.
