The NBA’s top team, the 26-4 Cleveland Cavaliers, face reigning Kia MVP Ladder leader Nikola Jokić and the Denver Nuggets tonight in the Mile High City (9 ET). With both teams in top form, this is a showdown that basketball fans won’t want to miss.

Back to their last meeting

Just 22 days ago, these two powerhouses met in Cleveland and produced a game for the ages full of unforgettable highlights.

The Nuggets superstar delivered a stunning triple-double with 27 points, 20 rebounds and 11 assists. From dazzling footwork off the post to a coast-to-coast ball, Jokić showed why he is one of the best in the league.

The performance marked his 139th career triple-double, surpassing Magic Johnson as the third-best player of all time. Additionally, it was his eighth career game with more than 20 points, more than 20 rebounds and more than 10 assists, tying Oscar Robertson for the third-most in NBA history.

“His touches never cease to amaze me,” Nuggets guard Jamal Murray said after the game. “He does everything on the pitch with a great attitude and has the will to win.”

But despite Jokić’s brilliance, Cleveland won 126-114. The Cavs, the NBA leader in 3-point shooting percentage (40.6%), made a season-high 22 threes at a rate of 45.8%. The win moved Cleveland to 20-3, marking its best start since the 2008-09 season, led by that season’s Kia MVP, LeBron James.

Cleveland’s Historic Quest

Tonight, the Cavs have a chance to do what even the 66-win team couldn’t do in the 2008-2009 season: start 27-4 in their first 31 games.

“The results will take care of themselves,” Cavs coach Kenny Atkinson said. “We’re just going to keep going and continue to focus on our habits and daily improvement.”

Standing in their way is Jokić, who is averaging a triple-double with nearly 30 points (30.7 ppg, 12.6 rpg, 9.4 apg) and a Nuggets team that hasn’t lost at home since November 25th has.

Elsewhere in League Pass

Tonight there are five more must-see duels, led by Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs visiting the Brooklyn Nets (7:30 ET).
