beginning of the week

Joe Burrow at the Cowboys (Mon. 8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN): This is a bit of a no-brainer, but options are slim with six teams out. As a result, Burrow is listed based on a high-end matchup in Dallas. The Cowboys have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, as seven total have beaten them by at least 17.8 points. There’s a chance it could be a high-scoring affair, so make sure you have Burrow in your starting lineup.

Start them

Sam Darnold vs. Falcons (1 p.m. ET, Fox): Darnold has defied the odds in his last two games, scoring 19+ points in both games despite poor matchups against the Bears and Cardinals. Next up is a plus matchup where Darnold faces a Falcons defense that has given up the eighth-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. Additionally, six different field generals have beaten them by 17.7 points or more, including four since Week 7.

Tua Tagovailoa vs. Jets (1 p.m. ET, CBS): Tagovailoa has been on fire lately, scoring 23-plus points in three straight games, including 25.2 points in Green Bay last week. I would use him against the Jets, who have allowed two quarterbacks to beat them by over 28 points in their last three games. Additionally, their defense has given up more than 24 points to four different quarterbacks since Week 6, so Tagovailoa should score.

Baker Mayfield vs. Raiders (1 p.m. ET, CBS): Mayfield is coming off one of his worst stats of the season, scoring just 10.2 points despite a plus game in Carolina. Still, I’ll continue to believe in the veteran based on another great matchup, this time against the Raiders. The Silver & Black have allowed quarterbacks more than 18 points six times, including five times who scored more than 23 points. Mayfield should bounce back this weekend.

Russell Wilson vs. Browns (1 p.m. ET, CBS): Wilson put up his best stats of the year last week, beating the Bengals with three touchdowns and nearly 27 fantasy points. I like him this week too, as the veteran faces a Browns defense that has given up 18+ points to six quarterbacks, including four since Week 6. With six teams having a bye and the fantasy postseason on the line, Wilson should be considered a viable starter in most leagues.

QBs with good matchups

Aaron Rodgers

Seat of the week

Aaron Rodgers at the Dolphins (1 p.m. ET, CBS): The “Curse of the Jets Quarterback” has struck again! Rodgers has been underperforming in the Men in Green’s stats, scoring 16.1 points or fewer in each of his last three games while averaging just 14.2 points per game this season. Next up is a tough matchup against the Dolphins, who have allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. Overall, their defense has only allowed four quarterbacks to beat them by more than 13.5 points.

Set them

Brock Purdy vs. Bears (4:25 p.m. ET, Fox): Purdy and the Niners are a mess at this point as injuries have crippled their offense. I would be wary of the quarterback this week as he faces a Bears defense that has only allowed four opposing field generals more than 17 fantasy points this season. Additionally, only the Jets and Lions defenses have allowed fewer touchdown passes. I would use Purdy in traditional one-quarterback fantasy formats.

Matthew Stafford vs. Bills (4:25 p.m. ET, FOX): Stafford has been up and down the stat sheet lately and a matchup against the Bills makes it difficult to trust him. Their pass defense has given quarterbacks the third-fewest fantasy points per game, as only three have beaten them by more than 15.9 points. While this could be a high-scoring game (the total score on DK Sportsbook was 49), the match isn’t particularly good for Stafford.

Kirk Cousins on Vikings (1 p.m. ET, Fox): Cousins has seen his stats decline in each of his last five games, culminating in a 2.1-point loss to the Chargers. I would also skip him this week as he faces a strong Vikings defense that has given up just 15.1 points per game to quarterbacks this season. Additionally, only Caleb Williams has scored more than 15.6 fantasy points against its aggressive pass defense since Week 9.

Jameis Winston at Steelers (1 p.m. ET, CBS): Winston had a tremendous performance in Denver, throwing for nearly 500 yards and four touchdowns. Still, the Steelers defense was tough against quarterbacks at home, allowing the third-fewest fantasy points per game. Additionally, Pittsburgh has forced more interceptions (6) than touchdown passes allowed (5) in five games on its home field this season. I would be wary of Winston.
