Steelers’ Cam Heyward praises Russell Wilson, rest of offense after 44-point performance

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ offense exploded last week to a degree we hadn’t seen in six years as they defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 44-38. It was the most points the Steelers have scored since Thursday night’s infamous 52-21 loss to the Carolina Panthers, and Russell Wilson’s 414 passing yards were the most of any Steelers quarterback since Ben Roethlisberger passed 400 yards twice in the same season exceeded.

Here’s to this week Not just football, Cam Heyward showed Wilson and the offense a lot of love after their tremendous performance.

“Happy birthday, old Russ,” Heyward said. “Kudos to him for the performance (Sunday). I don’t care who you play – when you put up numbers like that, it’s a winning performance. George, Calvin – everyone did their part to win the game on offense.”

Heyward also praised the offense for bouncing back after a game against Cleveland in which they took a lot of criticism.

“I know the offensive line is reeling a lot,” Heyward said. “Just a week ago they were talking about Myles Garrett and how he had such a good game, but I have to give these guys some love. You silenced a tough guy. I have all the respect in the world for Trey Hendrickson. He currently leads the NFL in sacks. But between Dan and Broderick on the outside, and I saw some really nice blocks from Isaac, Frazier and McCormick…we’ll have a bigger test next week.”

The Steelers face the Browns for the second time in three weeks in Pittsburgh, where Cleveland hasn’t won in the regular season since 2003.
