PITTSBURGH – Mike Tomlin is “optimistic” about the availability of Steelers star pass rusher TJ Watt against the Ravens on Saturday.

Watt left the loss to the Eagles late in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury after suffering two sacks and a forced fumble.

Tomlin said Monday that Watt had been walking around the facility “pretty comfortably” earlier in the day.

Watt, who said he twisted his ankle, told reporters that X-rays were negative, adding he was in “wait and see” mode for Saturday’s game in Baltimore.

Tomlin said Monday that the “door is open” not only for Watt, but also for safety DeShon Elliott (hamstring), George Pickens (hamstring), Larry Ogunjobi (groin), Justin Fields (abdominal) and Donte Jackson (Back). Week 16 game.

“We will formulate a plan to increase the participation of these guys throughout the week,” Tomlin said.

Although the Steelers play the Ravens and Chiefs within 10 days of each other, Tomlin said the tight schedule will not impact decisions about injured players and their availability.

“We’re playing for the division title this week,” he said. “If you’re healthy, you’ll play.”
