Steelers secure playoff spot despite loss in Week 15 after losses to Dolphins and Colts

Although they lost the Battle of Pennsylvania, the Pittsburgh Steelers still secured a spot in the playoffs.

The Steelers, despite their 27-13 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, secured a spot in the postseason thanks to losses to the Miami Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

This is the team’s second playoff trip in as many seasons and the 12th in head coach Mike Tomlin’s illustrious 18-year tenure at the helm of the Steelers.

At 10-4, Pittsburgh remains atop the AFC North. Winning the division will undoubtedly be next on Tomlin and Co.’s checklist, although their lead has shrunk to just one game following the Baltimore Ravens’ win over the New York Giants today.

Pittsburgh’s loss to Philadelphia sets up a difficult final stretch of the regular season that will certainly test the Steelers heading into the playoffs. They next face rival Ravens on the road on Saturday. The Steelers then host the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day before closing out the regular season against the visiting Cincinnati Bengals in Week 18.

With a postseason ticket punched, Pittsburgh will now look to win its first playoff game in quite some time.

The Steelers have lost their last five playoff games and have not won a postseason tournament since 2016, when they advanced to the AFC Championship Game.

They took the first step toward ending this streak on Sunday.
