Steelers vs. Browns live updates: Cleveland looks to beat Pittsburgh

The Cleveland Browns are having a disappointing 3-9 season and are in last place in the AFC North, but two of their wins have come against the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers, two rivals that lead the division. After defeating the Steelers 24-19 in Cleveland two weeks ago, they now meet in Pittsburgh at 1 p.m. ET on CBS. This may not be a national game, but it is the most televised game of the week on CBS.

1st quarter

1:00 p.m.: An important note early in the game: The Pittsburgh Steelers had one surprise inactive, namely the WR George Pickens is out due to a “thigh injury”.

1:02 p.m.: The Pittsburgh Steelers got the start. Now, QB Russell Wilson got the Browns to jump into the neutral zone with a hard count to set up a 1st-and-5. On the 3rd and 1st passes, an illegal formation penalty then led to an incomplete pass on the 3rd and 6th passes. Pittsburgh had to settle for a 30-yard field goal from K Chris Boswellwhich gave them an early 3-0 lead.

1:17 p.m.: The Browns’ next drive started better than RB Jerome Ford had one carry of 7 yards. Then Chubb had the next carry for 6 yards and a first down. A few plays later Winston found WR Elijah Moore for a 20-yard pass into Pittsburgh territory.

Then on 3rd-and-9, just as Winston was starting to pick up, he stopped and gave WR a hit Jerry Jeudy for a 35-yard touchdown that gave them a 7-3 lead with 5:50 left in the first quarter.

1:26 p.m.: The Steelers started their next drive with a 2-yard loss to LB Mohamoud Diabate made a nice stop on a swing pass. Two plays later, on 3rd and 4, Wilson failed to get another first down as a DE Myles Garrett took a broad approach to create pressure and force an intentional landing. The Steelers’ punt wasn’t as sharp this time, traveling only 38 yards to the Cleveland 37-yard line.

1:31 p.m.: It looked like the Browns had pulled out a 3-0 win on defense, but Highsmith was called out for roughing the passer, although that was in contrast to some plays that weren’t called in the last two weeks were not that bad. Nevertheless, he managed to get the ball beyond midfield. Cleveland could only get to the 41-yard line on a 4th-and-7, so they sent out the punt unit. 2nd quarter

1:46 p.m.: The Browns began the second quarter with a 2nd-and-11 from their own 37-yard line.
