Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins assessed the Warriors’ loss to Raptors

The Golden State Warriors pulled off a heartbreaking win on Monday night, losing 104-101 to the Toronto Raptors after former player Chris Boucher dropped 17 points in the fourth quarter to help Toronto stage a comeback.

Another painful loss.

Now let’s rate the players, and we’ll do it quickly tonight. As always, grades are based on my expectations for each player, with a grade of “B” representing that player’s average performance.

Note: True Shooting Percentage (TS) is a scoring efficiency metric. Heading into Monday’s games, the league average TS was 57.4%.

Buddy Hield

33 minutes, 8 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals, 1 block, 2 turnovers, 1 foul, 3-for-13 shooting, 2-for-10 three-pointers, 30.8% TS, +6

All right, I’ll put it this way: This whole “Buddy Hield can defend but can’t shoot” thing really freaks me out. What’s up? I’m so confused!

Really good defensive play for Buddy. A really bad offensive game. That may be encouraging for the future, but he’s here to score and he’s really struggling to do so.

Grade: C
Post-game bonus: Tie for best plus/minus on the team.

Andrew Wiggins

35 minutes, 20 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 2 turnovers, 2 fouls, 6-for-13 shooting, 4-for-9 three-pointers, 4-for-6 free throws, 63.9% TS , +4

Wiggins returned to the field after missing two games for personal reasons. And although he didn’t get his first win on home Canadian soil, he was clearly one of the best Warriors of the entire night, with a very good offense and solid defense.

Grade: A-

Trayce Jackson Davis

30 minutes, 3 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 3 turnovers, 2 fouls, 1-for-4 shooting, 1-for-4 free throws, 26.0% TS, +6

It’s fun to see TJD get a chance to play real starter minutes. Unfortunately, he didn’t have it in this game. He failed to create separation, had as many turnovers as points and struggled on defense.

Grade: C-
Post-game bonus: Tie for best plus/minus on the team.

Dennis Schröder

24 minutes, 12 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, 2 turnovers, 1 foul, 5-for-12 shooting, 2-for-6 three-pointers, 50.0% TS, +6

A rather mediocre game from Schröder. It wasn’t anything special offensively, but he ran the ship pretty well and his defense was decent. I’m still waiting for it to click. It’s difficult with new arrivals in mid-season.

Grade: B-
Post-game bonus: Tie for best plus/minus on the team.

Steph Curry

35 minutes, 26 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 steal, 4 turnovers, 2 fouls, 9-for-17 shooting, 4-for-10 three-pointers, 4-for-4 free throws, 69.3% TS , 0 +/-

There are many reasons why the Warriors lost, but Curry at 26, seven and seven is certainly not one of them. The turnovers have really been a problem lately, but not to excuse Curry, they seem to be more a result of him having to shoulder too much of a load than anything else.

A very solid game for the chef. It’s a shame that it couldn’t be rewarded with a win.

Grade: A-
Post-game bonus: Led the team in points and assists.

Kevon Looney

18 minutes, 10 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 2 fouls, 5-for-9 shooting, 55.6% TS, -8

An absolute beast on the glass. Looney is now up to 225 rebounds in just 517 minutes. Absurd! He comfortably leads the NBA in rebounds per 36 minutes and per 100 possessions and is third (behind only Andre Drummond and Karl-Anthony Towns) in overall rebound percentage.

Grade: A-
Post-game bonus: It is tied with the team lead in rebounds.

Lindy Waters III

22 minutes, 8 points, 9 rebounds, 1 block, 1 turnover, 2-for-6 shooting, 2-for-4 three-pointers, 2-for-3 free throws, 54.6% TS, -9

It was fun to watch Waters find ways to help the team win beyond just scoring goals. He gave it his all in that game, which was great. Just a solid all-around game for Waters.

Grade: B+
Post-game bonus: It is tied with the team lead in rebounds.

Moses Moody

14 minutes, 1 point, 2 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block, 0-for-6 shooting, 0-for-3 three-pointers, 1-for-2 free throws, 7.3% TS, -10

It’s not easy to have a positive impact on a game when you’re 0-for-6 from the field, and Moody hasn’t done enough in other areas to make up for that.

Grade: D+
Post-game bonus: The worst plus/minus on the team.

Gui Santos

12 minutes, 0 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, 3 fouls, 0-for-3 shooting, 0-for-2 three-pointers, 0.0% TS, -9

The Gui Magic faltered a bit in this game, but I was still impressed with his defense and general comfort on the floor, even if he still looks a little skittish.

Grade: C+

Kyle Anderson

18 minutes, 13 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 foul, 4-for-5 shooting, 2-for-2 three-pointers, 3-for-3 free throws, 102.8% TS, -1

Anderson can’t make you completely forget that Draymond Green isn’t on the court, but he certainly did a lot to ease the pain. A fantastic game for slo mo.

Grade: A
