Steph Curry goes crazy as the Sixers are destroyed by the Warriors to end West Coast momentum

Yes, that’s why you had to beat the Kings on Wednesday.

On the second night of a back-to-back, the Sixers laid an egg on national television, losing 139-105 to the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night.

Back in the lineup, Joel Embiid scored 28 points on 8 of 19 shooting, going 11 of 14 from the free throw line. A lot of this was done after the game was well under control.

Paul George shot well and finished the game with 19 points on 7 of 12, but didn’t get going until the Warriors sprinted to the lead by a wide margin. Tyrese Maxey struggled from the field, going 4 of 13 for 14 points. He also had six assists and three turnovers.

Steph Curry led all scorers with 30 points. He shot a perfect 8-of-8 from three-point range.

Here are some thoughts on the buzzer.

First quarter

  • The Sixers picked up right where they started the night before, turning the ball over four times in the first four minutes of the game. They were the same stupid, unforced errors, which included a foul on George. They also started 2 of 11 from the floor and only managed a couple of layups that fell early.
  • Embiid saved the defense several times in the opening minutes, but the defense was repeatedly torn apart by backdoor attacks. After being rejected a few times, Trayce Jackson-Davis finally managed to land a blow on the big guy.
  • The only positive of the quarter was Guerschon Yabuselse, who was able to slide into the post and use his size to make a few shots. He also outrebounded Jonathan Kuminga and finished the game with a reverse layup, leading the team with eight points early. All seven field goals the Sixers made in the quarter were within range. The Warriors finished the quarter shooting 59% and led by 16%.

Second quarter

  • Fittingly, Yabu bucked that trend by hitting Philly’s first three-pointer of the night. Maxey and George followed shortly after, but that didn’t make up any ground at all as the Warriors scored three points each. Additionally, they continued to have a great day on the sidelines against the Sixers’ small ball unit, although the first one didn’t fare much better.
  • George quietly settled for a 5-of-7 start from the field. Maxey, however, continued to fight. He opted for drives to the basket instead of swinging to a few open teammates, which would have been fine if he hadn’t completely smoked the layups. Most of Maxey’s problems at the rim looked doomed from the start, but tonight everything seemed clear.
  • When Embiid returned to the game, the Sixers got a few solid possessions, but the best they did was cut the lead to 10. He got some momentum offensively, getting to the free throw line five times. scored nine points in the quarter. He also got tired of the mask for a while, so he left it on his head a few times before finally flipping it back down. After an even quarter, the Sixers again went into the break trailing by 16.

Third quarter

  • The break didn’t help much, as Philly’s half began with even uglier turnovers and fouls and legless jumpers. Lowry seems completely out of place in the starting lineup. It looks like he can’t offer anything other than making people dirty him. He was quickly pulled after taking a few of his own.
  • Every time the Sixers let up a bit, they seemed to have a disjointed possession that ruined everything. Caleb Martin missed an open three-pointer and his layup attempt was blocked at the rim. A quick advance from Curry suddenly gave the Warriors their largest lead of the night.
  • Embiid continued to live on the border. He needed nine more attempts in the quarter, but that was all on offense as the Warriors continued to increase their scoring. The Sixers trailed by 25 points after three games.

Fourth quarter

  • Maxey and PG were out there at the start of the quarter and there was really no reason for it. They clearly hadn’t made it tonight. It was time to call it a night, especially for those who had played in Sacramento the night before.
  • The Sixers return to the East Coast to complete this trip. They will face the Nets in Brooklyn on Saturday at 6 p.m. ET.
