Steph Curry put together one of the greatest performances of his career on Thursday night, leading the Golden State Warriors to a 139-105 win over the Philadelphia 76ers.

With his sharp shooting of 30 points, 10 assists and six rebounds, the two-time NBA MVP became the first player in league history to hit at least eight-for-eight three-pointers and record double-digit assists in the same game.

His eight triples without a miss are a career-best and, according to StatMuse, fell just one shy of the NBA record held by Latrell Sprewell, Jalen Brunson and Ben Gordon, who made it twice.

“He deserves those nights,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said after the game. “I mean, everything he does for us and endures, he’s so much fun to watch. Our fans and our coaches, we are all spoiled to watch him play night after night.

“We have to cherish these nights. He won’t be there forever. He is one of the most beautiful basketball players who ever lived and we are lucky to watch him.”

To top it off, the 36-year-old played the game with a sprained thumb, which teammate Draymond Green said prevented Curry from using his right hand in practice on Wednesday.

“Sometimes when you have a little injury or something unusual, it forces you to focus a little bit,” Curry said. “I didn’t have many attempts in the first half, but all four were really good, rhythmic shots. And from then on you just feel joy that things are going the way we wanted them to.”

Curry leads the NBA with the most three-point shots in history, but he has never been more accurate behind the arc than he was on Thursday night.

Jonathan Kuminga scored 20 points off the bench, with Green, Dennis Schröder and Andrew Wiggins contributing 15 points each. In total, seven Warriors scored double-digit points on the night. Joel Embiid led the 76ers with 28 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks.

It was an important win for the Warriors, who started the season 12-3 but then lost 13 of their next 17 games. They are now 17-16 and in 10th place in the Western Conference.

The Sixers, coming off an even more disappointing season, are now 13-19 and 11th in the East.
