Steph Curry makes Warriors history against Detroit Pistons

The Golden State Warriors begin their four-game road trip tonight by playing the Detroit Pistons, who enter with a five-game winning streak and 8-2 in their last 10 games. As for the Warriors, they will be looking to avoid a three-game skid as they are 4-6 in their last ten games.

Although Warriors guard Stephen Curry was listed on the injury report yesterday, he was in the starting lineup for today’s game alongside Draymond Green, Dennis Schröder, Buddy Hield and Trayce Jackson-Davis. Although he is already the NBA’s all-time leader in three-pointers and is well-documented in Golden State’s franchise history, he was able to earn another accolade in the first quarter of the contest.

With his performances so far tonight, Curry has passed franchise star Rick Barry and ranked eighth in rebounds in franchise history. Curry came into tonight’s game averaging 4.9 rebounds per game.

At 6-foot-3, Curry’s size obviously makes him an effective rebounder for Golden State. Still, he has managed to post some higher rebound numbers over the years, with his career high being 14 in a game against the Sacramento Kings in 2015. His double-digit rebounding performances also led him to 13 career triple-doubles in the regular season and postseason combined.

Curry is now eighth in franchise history for rebounds and is next in line with more than 1,000 rebounds behind seventh-place Neil Johnston (5,856).
