Stephen N. Castle is retiring from the Midland College Board of Trustees

Stephen N. Castle has served on the Midland College Board of Trustees since 2006.

MIDLAND, Texas – Stephen N. Castle announced his resignation from the Midland College (MC) Board of Trustees on Tuesday, according to a press release from Karisa Danley, Midland College Media Relations.

Castle came to Midland as a first-grader and then built a career in the oil fields of West Texas and southeastern New Mexico. He officially worked for Mobil, Tom Brown Inc. and Hanley Petroleum Inc.

He also served as chairman of the Texas Independent Producers & Royalty Owners Association, chairman of the Permian Basin Petroleum Association and founded Cowboys Resources in 1998.

Castle has been a member of the board since 2006, a total of 18 years. During his tenure, MC experienced its largest enrollment increase since 2011.

According to the press release, this increase is due to the new “natural gas compression and automation programs, expanded behavioral health and health sciences offerings, and the awarding of over $1.3 million in scholarships in fall 2024.”

“Steve was an integral member of the Midland College Board of Trustees,” said MC President Dr. Damon Kennedy. “Throughout his tenure, Steve’s leadership, understanding and commitment to our mission have contributed significantly to the success of Midland College.”

“His commitment to advancing higher education and supporting community initiatives has left a lasting impression. “I am truly grateful to Steve for his service and express my deep appreciation for his contributions,” said Dr. Kennedy.
