GameStop Rises After Roaring Kitty Christmas Post

1 hour and 13 minutes ago

Did Roaring Kitty give meme stock traders a Christmas present? While it’s not clear right now, GameStop (GME) fans are doing a little shopping of their own this morning.

Shares of the retailer linked to Keith “Roaring Kitty” Gill, who for many is the first person who comes to mind when the company is mentioned, rose in early trading on Thursday.

The modest but noticeable gains of about 4% follow a Wednesday tweet from his of a wrapped gift box.

Does that mean he got something nice? Is there anything to give? Like beautifully packaged boxes? As expected, people are wondering – and watching, because according to X, the message was last seen around 4 million times, with thousands of replies, retweets and likes.

Meanwhile, the company’s shares are up nearly 80% in 2024, although below prices seen at the height of the spike largely inspired by Gill earlier this year. GameStop announced its latest quarterly results earlier this month, which showed a decline in sales and a net profit.
