Storms will begin on Christmas Day, with the greatest threat occurring on Thursday

As for the weather, Christmas Eve will thankfully be relatively calm as the main line of storms approaches from northwest Louisiana. It will be a little breezy and there is little chance of a bit of a breeze here and there before midnight.
Lows will be warmer again this evening. We expect lows to only fall into the upper 50s this evening, we may even stay in the lower 60s. It will be warmer tomorrow even outside of the rainy periods, an area could cool down a bit, with highs likely to be around 70°. The cold air definitely hasn’t stayed, so unfortunately it feels like Christmas.

However, showers will develop in Louisiana overnight and tomorrow morning, bringing a slight risk for a few isolated thunderstorms.
Currently, models do not agree on exactly which areas these showers will occur. Fortunately, washouts will not occur throughout the day and flooding is not expected, although gusty winds are possible at times. It’s a good idea to have overnight warnings in case one of these storms takes advantage of a favorable environment to cause potential damage.
