Stormy Saturday in southern Mississippi

BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) – The WLOX First Alert Weather Team has issued a day alert for expected heavy rain and strong to severe storms into the early hours of Sunday morning for Saturday, December 28, 2024.

While the greatest risk for severe weather lies north of southern Mississippi’s six southern counties, there is still a risk of some storms producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and tornadoes.

The main line of strong to severe storms is expected to move toward Pearl River, Stone...
The main line of strong to severe storms is expected to move into Pearl River, Stone and Hancock counties between 9 and 10 p.m. The line is expected to continue east into Harrison, George and Jackson counties after 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. If storms form off the border before 9 p.m., there is a risk of tornadoes and large hail.(wlox)

The main line of storms is expected to move into the southern six counties after 9 p.m. However, if storms form off the mainline before this period, these storms will be at increased risk of producing damaging wind gusts and tornadoes.

As the line of storms sweeps across the area, there is also a risk of isolated damaging wind gusts and fast-moving tornadoes.
