Strong storms hit the Atlanta metropolitan area in northern Georgia

The line of storms is pushing east and will reach the Atlanta metropolitan area around sunrise.

ATLANTA – A weather warning has been issued for Saturday night into early Sunday as we monitor heavy rain and thunderstorms. Storms can produce gusty winds, frequent lightning and hail. A short-term upswing cannot be ruled out, but the overall risk of a tornado is very low.

There is a low (Level 1) to low (Level 2) risk of severe weather across our area. A tornado warning is in effect until 9 a.m. for the Atlanta metropolitan area

A pronounced line of storms will move into the state between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. This increases the risk of severe weather and widespread heavy rainfall.
