Studs and duds from Chicago’s embarrassing defeat

The Chicago Bears continue to find new ways to lose in the most excruciating ways. This time they rebounded and were able to upset the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. But Matt Eberflus once again found a new way to lose a game by one score, failing to take advantage of a timeout as time expired and the Lions escaped with a 23-20 victory at Ford Field.

It certainly feels like this could be the last game for Eberflus, who is now 5-19 in one-point games. Although there were many problems, rookie quarterback Caleb Williams was the shining bright spot in the midst of the loss. He led the team with three touchdown passes in the second half and had a chance for a fourth touchdown on the final drive. Chicago’s defense held Detroit’s top-scoring offense to just seven points in the second half, an impressive loss considering how easily they let the ball come their way in the first half.
