Indian Paralympics gold medalist Sumit Antil has set his sights on reaching the 80-meter mark in the javelin throw in the coming years. This announcement follows his outstanding performance at the Paris Paralympics, where he won his second consecutive gold medal with a record throw of 70.59 meters.

At GoSports Foundation’s annual Sports Awards Night 2024 in Mumbai, Antil shared his journey. He remembers the goal he set before the Tokyo Paralympics of reaching the 70-meter mark and is now striving for more. “Many people doubted it at first, but within 1.5 years I proved that it was possible. Now my dream is to reach 80 meters,” said Antil. The awards honored numerous athletes, including table tennis star Sreeja Akula and badminton duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty, who were named Sportsman of the Year.

The event highlighted the achievements of athletes like Muhammed Anas and Nikhat Zareen and showcased the collective efforts that drive Indian sports forward. With over 100 athletes in attendance, the evening was a testament to mentor and corporate support that led to continued success across various sporting disciplines.
