Suspect was seen casually strolling through New York subway station just 30 minutes before UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson’s execution: new video

New footage emerged Thursday showing the suspect in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson exiting a Manhattan subway station just 30 minutes before the fatal shooting.

The suspected gunman accused of shooting the executive on a Midtown street was seen on recently obtained surveillance video taken from a Sixth Avenue cigar store leaving the stop around 6:15 a.m Left 57th Street.

Police had previously released photos of the hooded man standing at a Starbucks counter at West 56th Street and Sixth Avenue, just minutes from the Hilton hotel where he allegedly shot the 50-year-old Thompson at close range.

  • Brian Thompson, the CEO of insurance giant UnitedHealthcare, was shot and killed outside a luxury hotel in Midtown on Wednesday in a “brazen, targeted attack,” police said.
  • The methodical killer used a firearm with a silencer in front of the Hilton Hotel on Sixth Avenue.
  • The gunman shot Thompson several times, hitting him in the back and right calf, before fleeing on foot.
  • The NYPD released a new photo of the hooded suspect standing in front of the counter at the Starbucks on West 56th Street and 6th Avenue, just minutes from the Hilton Hotel where he shot and killed Thompson, 50.
  • Thompson was named CEO of UnitedHealth in April 2021. He joined the company in 2004. He was one of several executives at the company under investigation by the Justice Department.
  • Thompson’s wife, Paulette, said her husband was threatened before he was killed.
  • The NYPD is investigating a possible message – which appears to contain the words “deny”, “depose” and “defend” – engraved on live cartridges and shell casings left behind by the masked assassin.

The NYPD also released surveillance images showing the accused killer grinning broadly, wearing a black mask on his chin and wearing similar clothing to the gunman in the fatal killing outside the luxury hotel.

Police said the gunman fired several shots before quickly escaping on foot and then grabbing an e-bike to complete his escape.
