Taylor Swift makes a surprise visit to Kansas City Children’s Hospital

Taylor Swift made a surprise stop at a children’s hospital in Kansas City, shocking parents and patients alike as she laughed with them, posed for photos and exchanged gifts.

All parent Cassie Thomas had previously said was that she might want to brush her hair and teeth because a special visitor was coming. But she was stunned when Swift, fresh off her Eras tour and a day shy of her 35th birthday, walked into her son’s room at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City on Thursday.

“No rumors. “We literally had no idea what was happening,” Thomas recalls.

Her 13-year-old son Beckett Thomas is a cancer patient and a fan of Swift’s close friend Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs. Beckett uses a 3D printer to make earrings bearing his name and that of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and walks around the hospital ward selling them to nurses.

Now Swift has a pair too.

“She was great,” Beckett’s mother said. “So down to earth.”

Another patient told Swift that her favorite song was “Love Story” and they later discussed the song “Paper Rings,” in which Swift sings, “I’d married you with paper rings.” As their conversation turned to discussing the Turning to San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy, whose team played the Chiefs in the Super Bowl earlier this year, Swift expressed surprise.

“Brock Purdy, huh? I mean, I have nothing against Brock Purdy.” Swift said, then continued, “He did a lot to me last February.”

Asked before the Super Bowl if he was willing to disappoint Swift, Purdy replied, “Yes.”

The game ended with Mahomes leading the Chiefs to their second straight Super Bowl title, defeating the 49ers 25-22 in overtime.

“I was really stressed out for a second, but everything worked out well in the end,” Swift told the girl, whose recorded conversation was posted online.

Then the girl chimed in, “I like Travis now.” Swift responded with, “Me too. That’s an absolute yes to that.

There’s no word on whether Swift will be in the stands when the Chiefs play the Browns on Sunday in Kelce’s hometown of Cleveland.
