Taylor Swift sets new all-time BBMA wins record

Taylor Swift was the top winner at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards, broadcast on Fox on Thursday (December 12). Swift’s 10 new trophies bring her career win total to 49, more than any other artist in BBMA history. She was tied with Drake for this award with 39 wins each. (Drake won three awards this year, bringing his total to 42.)

This is the second year in a row that Swift has won 10 BBMAs. 2023 and 2024 are their two most winning years. Prior to these two years, her personal best was eight wins, in both 2013 and 2015. Swift collected her first three BBMAs in 2011.

Swift was named top female artist for a record fourth time, having previously won in 2013, 2015 and 2023. She is the first four-time winner in this category and broke a tie with Drake with three wins each. Additionally, she is the first artist since Destiny’s Child in 2000 and 2001 to win two consecutive awards in this category.

Swift was named best female artist for the sixth time, having previously won in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2021 and 2023. She has won in three of the last four years, only missing that period in 2022 with Olivia Rodrigo Won.

She was named the top Billboard 200 female artist for the seventh time, having previously won in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Swift won the top Billboard 200 album (The Tortured Poets Department) for a record-breaking third time. She is ahead of two-time winners 50 Cent, Eminem, Adele and Drake. She had previously won Red in 2013 and 1989 in 2015. All three of these albums received Grammy nominations for Album of the Year (1989 Won). We will learn TTPDFate on February 2nd.

Swift won the Top Hot 100 Artist award for the second time, having won in 2015. She won four more awards for the second time, having won them last year. These are Top Hot 100 Songwriter, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top Billboard 200 Global Artist and Top Billboard Global (Excl. US) Artist.

Proving that there are still new worlds to conquer for Taylor Swift, she won the title of Best Streaming Songs Artist for the first time.

The tracking period for the 2024 Billboard Music Awards was October 13, 2023 to October 10, 2024, which corresponds billboard Chart data from October 28, 2023 to October 19, 2024.
