TE David Njoku and K Dustin Hopkins are both inactive for the Browns vs. Chiefs game today

CLEVELAND, Ohio — David Njoku made it to the 11th hour but wasn’t healthy enough to play today against the Chiefs.

Additionally, kicker Dustin Hopkins will get the day off due to his slump and Riley Patterson will kick in his place.

Njoku suffered a hamstring injury in the second quarter of last week’s 27-14 loss to the Steelers but exited the game. He didn’t practice all week but was hoping he might be able to play. Njoku admitted on Friday that the Achilles tendon was strained but said he would not know about his availability until match day.

Jordan Akins will start in his place, and Jameis Winston said Wednesday that he has a good connection with Akins, having worked with him on the second team all season and during training camp. The Browns also have tight end Blake Whiteheart on the roster.
