A spectacular hole-in-one by Tiger Woods’ son Charlie wasn’t enough to defeat two-time major winner Bernhard Langer and his son Jason on Sunday at the PNC Championship – a two-day, 36-hole competition on the 20th Major champions participate and their family members play in scramble format.

Team Woods and Team Langer both entered the final round of the tournament tied at -13, and 18 holes weren’t enough to separate the teams at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida.

But in the end, Team Langer won the tournament for the second time in a row and 67-year-old team presenter Bernhard won this event for the sixth time.

Team Woods took the lead on the fourth hole with a hole-in-one from Charlie Woods, which drew a huge reaction from proud father Tiger, who will be featured in highlight reels for years to come.

The Langers were consistent and relentless throughout the round, repeatedly tying with Team Woods, only to see the Woodses restore their lead. Team Langer birdied eight of the final nine holes Sunday, one shot better than Team Woods, as both teams finished 36 holes at -28 to force a playoff.

As the two teams played hole No. 18 again, Tiger Woods’ approach shot landed on the fringe right next to the green, leaving the door open for Jason Langer to take the advantage with a shot to the middle of the green, about 15 feet away use the flagstick.

Charlie Woods had the best putt for Team Woods, but his attempt had a little too much speed and missed the hole as Charlie fell to his knees in agony.

After Jason Langer missed his attempt, everything fell to Bernhard. Showing the nerve that won him two Masters championships, Langer sank his putt to win the tournament.

Even the disappointing defeat couldn’t dampen the younger Woods’ spirits.

“I mean, it was great,” Charlie Woods told NBC afterwards.

“No one made a mistake today, it was the most fun I’ve ever had. And made an ace on top of that. I don’t think I can top that. It was great.”

Bernhard Langer, for his part, was happy about the victory.

“I really enjoyed playing with Tiger and Charlie today,” Langer said after accepting his trophy.

“They are such wonderful competitors and great people. It was fun to see the two of them out there together. And when Charlie made that hole-in-one, I’ve never seen Tiger happier than when his son made his first hole-in-one. It was an amazing moment and it was exciting for us to be a part of it.”

Tiger Woods may be the greatest golfer of all time, but the best shot of the day belonged to his son Charlie.

On the par-3 fourth hole, Charlie’s tee shot landed softly on the green, which had rolled into the hole for a hole-in. The 15-year-old left the tee and didn’t initially notice that his ball had fallen towards Eagle.

As the crowd cheered, Charlie sheepishly asked, “Did it go in?”

Proud father Tiger was grinning from ear to ear as they celebrated with a hug and a playful nudge from the elder Woods.

The ace was the young Woods’ first hole-in-one and catapulted Team Woods to the top of the tournament.

As he walked to the fourth green, Charlie told Golf Channel, “It was great! I didn’t think it went in. I don’t believe anyone until I go up and look at it.”

After the tiring day, Tiger was still impressed with his son’s great performance on Sunday.

“It was one of the highlights we’ve ever had. “We talk about him making his first eagle before the hole,” Woods said. “And now he just made his first hole-in-one. It was a magical two-hole course. I’m just so happy for him and for the joy we’ve had as a family.”
