Texans at Chiefs | Ravens vs. Steelers, NFL Week 16 Saturday open thread

It’s the last weekend before the biggest holiday week of the year in much of the world. Today is also the first Saturday weekend of NFL games of the 2024 season. First up is the Houston Texans taking on the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium at 1 p.m. EST. Everyone’s attention will be on quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his bony ankle. Is it an injury or not?

Even though the Texans defeated the Bills earlier in the season, there is no way Bills Mafia can beat the Chiefs this afternoon. The only seed still in the game is KC – plus Taylor Swift spurned her Western New York Swifties a few weeks ago by refusing to attend the game in Orchard Park, NY. Will luck give the Chiefs another win?

At 4:30 PM EST, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens took the field for what is expected to be a great AFC North matchup. Quarterback Lamar Jackson is putting together another MVP-worthy campaign, but he has plenty of competition from both quarterback Josh Allen and running back Saquon Barkley.

Bills fans should hope for a Ravens win today, even though Baltimore beat Buffalo earlier in the season. The concern here is 10-4 Pittsburgh and the desire to put more space between the Bills and them. The Ravens are 9-5 and a win would still trail the Bills – but would also hurt Pittsburgh’s pursuit of the two seeds. If the Steelers actually win, they will lock up the AFC North over the holidays.

Here’s your open thread for today’s NFL action. As always, be kind to one another – and in all things… Go Bills!
