Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon responded to derogatory comments made by former NFL head coach Rex Ryan following a 32-12 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.

“We’re smoking on this Rex Ryan Bye Week pack,” Mixon said while smoking a cigar in an Instagram Live video after Saturday’s win.

Ryan, who is currently an NFL analyst for ESPN, said during an appearance on “The Chargers” that the first-round postseason matchup between Los Angeles and Houston was essentially a bye week for the Chargers Stand up (h/t Mike Gianakos of Clutch Points).

In response to Ryan, Mixon said of Gianakos at the time that he would “let his helmet and his shoulder pads do the talking.”

The 28-year-old did just that, rushing for 106 yards on 25 carries and catching one pass for 13 yards. Mixon also helped cement Houston’s victory with a 17-yard touchdown that gave his team a 20-point lead with just under four minutes left in regulation.

The Chargers were the AFC’s top wild-card team after finishing the regular season with an 11-6 record, while the Texans were the conference’s lowest-seeded division champions at 10-7.

Houston trailed 6-0 early in the quarter, but responded with 23 straight points before Los Angeles got back on the court. Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert completed only 43.8 percent of his throws and was fended off four times.

Ryan may have thought Los Angeles would get an easy win, but Mixon and the Texans ended up getting the last laugh.
