With Isaiah Bond and Matthew Golden both expected to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, the Texas Longhorns are once again returning to the NCAA transfer portal to sign proven wide receivers. The top target heading into the winter window is former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets star Eric Singleton Jr., who visits the Forty Acres on Tuesday.

The 5-foot-7, 190-pounder has two seasons of eligibility left and is one of the most sought-after players in the portal – 247Sports ranked him as the best available player until former Washington State quarterback John Mateer joined. On Friday, Singleton took an official visit to Ole Miss Auburn, LSU and Miami make up the rest of his top five schools. Landing Singleton will be expensive.

Singleton signed with Georgia Tech in the Douglasville (Ga.) 2023 recruiting class. Alexander was ranked as a consensus three-star prospect at No. 1,072 and a wide receiver at No. 149, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Singleton was a standout track athlete at Alexander with a time of 10.69 in the 100-meter dash and also received offers from Auburn, Nebraska, Texas A&M and Utah. After official visits to Minnesota, Michigan State and Kansas State, he committed to the Yellow Jackets.

Singleton quickly surpassed his recruiting rankings, earning Freshman All-America honors and finishing second in ACC Offensive Rookie of the Year voting and third in conference Rookie of the Year voting overall by leading Georgia Tech and was among the ACC’s leaders in receiving yards (714, ninth in the ACC), receptions (48, 13th in the ACC) and touchdown receptions (six, tied for eighth place in the ACC). Only three freshmen nationally (true or redshirt) topped Singleton’s 59.5 receiving yards per game. His six touchdown receptions ranked fourth nationally among wide receivers.

In 2024, Singleton’s touchdown production dropped to three scores, but he still recorded 56 receptions for 754 yards, including 100-yard performances against VMI and North Carolina State, in addition to eight catches for 88 yards and a touchdown in the eight overtimes -Loses to Georgia.
