Texas Longhorns slight favorite against Georgia Bulldogs

AUSTIN – After a 17-7 win over the Texas A&M Aggies in a historic rivalry rematch, the Texas Longhorns are the early favorites for the conference title against a new potential rival.

Texas has emerged as an early 1.5-point favorite over the Georgia Bulldogs in Saturday’s SEC championship game in Atlanta, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. The total score is currently 49.5 points. Texas’ money line is currently at -122, while Georgia’s is at +102

The matchup will be the second meeting between the two teams this season, as Georgia defeated Texas 30-15 in Austin on Oct. 19. The Longhorns have not lost since that game, while the Bulldogs suffered their second SEC loss, 28-10, in a loss at Ole Miss on November 9th.

In their first meeting against Georgia, Texas fell behind 23-0 in the first half. The Longhorns scored 15 unanswered points to make the game a single point, but the Bulldogs harassed Texas on both sides of the ball and sealed the win.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian knows the task ahead of him.

“When we had the slip-up at the beginning of the season, we knew we had to win to get back to a championship game and earn that right,” Sarkisian said after the win. “And we’re playing against a damn strong opponent. We all know Georgia is a great team and we will prepare really well to try to come out as winners.”

Texas and Georgia begin the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta on Saturday at 3 p.m. CT.
