Texas Tech defensive lineman accuses Arkansas offensive lineman of deliberate dirty play

The fallout from the AutoZone Liberty Bowl continued Saturday, a day after the Texas Tech football team lost 39-26 to Arkansas in Memphis. That’s because Texas Tech senior safety CJ Baskerville is accusing Arkansas offensive lineman Fernando Carmona of intentionally trying to injure him in a postgame pileup.

Baskerville released on Saturday is downright dirty. Do better @RazorbackFB.”

Additionally, Baskerville included two video clips that appear to support his claim that Carmona intentionally stepped on Baskerville’s ankle. Things aren’t looking good for Carmons, a redshirt junior from Las Vegas, Nevada.

Since no flag was thrown at the game, Carmona got away with his misdeed. However, it was a dangerous act that could have seriously injured Baskerville.

Carmona started nine games for the Razorbacks this season. Along the way, he was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week twice.

Meanwhile, Baskerville has been a solid starter for the Red Raiders this fall, making 13 appearances. He had 78 tackles and four passes for the Red Raiders, the second straight year he recorded 78 tackles.

Against the Razorbacks, Baskerville Tech led with 10 total tackles, seven of which were solo tackles. Luckily, he was able to play the entire game after Carmona got on his heels. Although nothing will come of this incident because officials did not catch Carmona in the act, Arkansas or the SEC should take action because there is no place for this type of activity on the football field.
