Thanksgiving travelers at DIA notice full parking lots and parking issues

DENVER (KDVR) — Weather aside, many travelers heading on vacation at Denver International Airport noted parking issues and many full lots Wednesday.

The Pikes Peak parking lot and several off-site garage spaces were already full before noon, causing timing issues for some travelers. FOX31 found that parking in DIA’s West Garage took over 20 minutes.

But not all travelers were stuck on properties looking for a free spot.

“I quit Ubering because I had already seen a lot about parking,” Ashley Parriott said.

Another option was public transportation, which Ashley Esquive and her family used.

“We took the bus from Boulder. “We knew it was going to be a crazy day, but actually the lines are pretty good so far,” she said.

“For this reason, we consciously avoid driving,” said her partner Eric Cowan.

Still, there were people who planned ahead and made the journey.

“Out here in the west, in the west parking lot. It was packed, there was hardly any space, but other than that it was pretty easy. “Not so bad,” said Deigo Vasquez.
